TINK
Her Story
In a land, far, far away, in a teenie tiny village, there lived the most beautiful fairy you could ever imagine. She was always, happy, never sad. Until now.
Now let’s stop for a minute. You may be asking where this teenie tiny village is at?
TinkVille, is located in a secret place in the land of Uni.
Uni? You might ask.
One cannot simply get here by walking, or driving, or taking a plane. No, no ordinary person has ever been here, or anywhere in this magical world. Only those with a powerful imagination, can get here, and then even if you got to the outskirts of Uni, you would need to be a mighty powerful believer.
The only true way to get here, is with a child-like imagination. Soo..if you are sitting there, in your boring living room, sitting in your boring suit, watching the boring news, then, my friend you have no imagination whatsoever, and this is not the story for you.
I first stumbled into Uni, as a little boy, no more than 5 years old. I was in my grandma’s secret garden, in the furthest, most unreachable part of it. When, to my great surprise, this gypsy lady, greeted me and took my hand. She was the 1st to take me here.
I’ve been back many times, BUT this is not my story. It’s Tink’s. My story is best left for another day.
In the land of Uni, you can find unicorns, elves, fairies, nice Trolls and Goblins, good wizards, and best of all… PURE Magic. But, this too, is a story for another day. Tink really wants this to be HER story.
If you have an active imagination and a child like faith, then Tink is waiting to meet you.
“I know, I know, Tink. This is your story.”
Fairies can be a bit impatient sometimes. Especially Tink.
-------
On the clearest of blue days, with not a single cloud in the sky, and the sun shining so brightly, Tink sat on her front porch, smiling and singing her favorite song. The temperature was just perfect for a spring day and it wasn’t even noon yet.
Tink had been to her chicken coop and collected 55 of the best eggs, for her project. Easter was soon approaching, any day now, and Tink needed to paint her eggs. Every Easter her eggs were the prettiest and most beautiful of all. All the other fairies envied her and her eggs.
Tink only used the best, prettiest, most colorful paints and they could only be found at her grandmas garden, where the best flowers grew. Her grandma was the queen of the village and was loved by ALL. She was 962 years young. (You see, fairies can live to be 3052 years)
“I know, I know, Tink. This is your story”
(Fairies can be very impatient.)
So, with her 55 eggs in her basket, Tink pulled out her paint brush and tiny buckets of paint. Bright reds, yellows, pinks, oranges and yellows. She also had her pail of glitter and glue too. This year her eggs would be the prettiest ones EVER!
Tink had a short term memory, so when a butterfly flew by, she jumped up and went chasing after it. You see, fairies love butterflies. Especially Tink.
She spent the rest of the morning chasing her new butterfly friend, and would’ve forgotten all about lunch if her friend Tyme hadn’t popped into her.
“Hello, Tink. What are you up to? It’s time for lunch”
Tink smiled her prettiest smile, evened out her pretty purple dress and stood up straight. She had a crush on Tyme, but he pretended not to notice.
“Why, hello there Tyme. I was just playing. Is it lunchtime already?”
(Fairies love lunch time, but not as much as they love tea time)
“Yes, it is Tink. Will you join me, by the Purple Tree, by the Pink river? I have a lunch basket”
“Why I don’t mind if we do”
And, so Tink and Tyme enjoyed a great lunch, and Tink watched as he fished and caught a blue bluegill. Before too long, she realized she must be going. Her eggs must be painted. Easter was only a few days away.
Sitting back on her porch, she had finished painting her 3rd egg, when she saw smoke coming from her grandmas’ kitchen window. She went running over (her grandma only lived 3 houses over) and ran through the front door.
“Grandma! My Grandma! Why, Grandma, your house is on fire!!” Tink went running into the kitchen where her grandma sat, humming.
“Well, hello my dear Tink. My house isn’t on fire. I am simply making kringla. It’s almost Easter you know?”
Tink collapsed to her knees and wiped sweat from her forehead.
“Oh! Pheewww! I thought you were in danger”
Her grandma handed her some kringla dough ends, and kept rolling out the kringla, setting each one on a pan, and putting each new pan in the oven and taking fresh kringla out.
“There you go my dear, your favorite. The ends of the dough.”
Tink with a smile on her face sat on the floor, and greedily ate 7 pieces of dough, reaching for an 8th, before her grandma slapped her tiny hand.
“Now, now, Tink. 7 is quite enough. Save some room in your little belly for kringla and tea”
Teatime with grandma was her favorite time of the entire day.
Before long, Tink followed her grandma into the Sun Room and sat at the tea table. Her grandma set a pot of green tea down, 2 cups, and a bowl of sugar cubes, then she disapeared. Before long, her grandma reappeared with a plate of hot kringla, (with burned bottoms, just the way Tink liked) and a saucer of butter.
Tink poured the tea, and placed 4 kringla on her plate.
“Now, now, Tink. Don’t take so many kringla. There’s plenty more. You don’t need to be so greedy.”
Tink just stuck her tongue out at her grandma and began eating.
“Have it your way then, Tink. BUT, when you aren’t hungry for my special supper later, it’s not my fault.”
Tink set her plate down, with only ½ a kringla left on it.
“What’s for supper, grams’”
(Tink’s wings were happily fluttering)
“You’ll just have to wait and see. Now, if you’re done eating, you should go play. I have more kringla to bake.”
With that, Tink flew out of the house and back to her porch. She sat back down and began happily painting her eggs again. Half an hour passed and Tink layed down in the grass, under her shade tree.
“Ugggg….I don’t feel so good. Maybe I shouldn’t have had soo many kringla”
With that, an acorn dropped out of the tree and bounced off Tink’s head. Mr. Squirrel laughed and chattered. Tink jumped up and shook her fist in the air.
“I’ll get you, Mr. Squirrel. If it’s the last thing I do. You are not nice. Not very nice at all!!”
Mr. Squirrel just laughed and jumped to another tree.
Tink put her eggs and her paints away and went into her house. Her tummy hurt so bad, she needed to lay down and take a nap before supper. So, that’s what she did. She dreamt of her unicorn friends a few miles away, and of all the fun they had together.
Hours passed away. Tink slept so beautifully. She slept so soundly, that she missed supper, she missed dessert, she even missed midnight tea, This was not at all like Tink. She loved tea. She loved dessert even more. The only thing better, was tea and dessert.
As morning came, Tink woke with a giant yawn and looked at her calendar. She jumped out of bed. Easter was tomorrow! Oh NO! She thought. My eggs will NEVER be ready. I must simply get them done. I MUST!
AND…so doing, Tink, did what she never ever did. She missed breakfast, she missed morning tea, she missed playtime, she missed it ALL. She was far too busy painting her Easter Eggs.
Bright purple eggs. Bright yellow ones. Green ones with pink polka dots. Orange ones, with blue stripes. White ones with glitter. She painted them all, and a bunch more.
She simply had to win this year. Her eggs just had to be the best. She simply, just simply had to win! She must!
As the afternoon passed, Tink was much too busy to stop just yet. She had the BEST egg to paint last. Her prize winner. Covered in paint, she took the biggest and best egg into her studio and set it on her egg-easel. Now, she just needed 1 thing. The perfect thing.
She scoured all her cupboards, emptying them all. She frantically searched her entire house. It simply wasn’t there. Where, oh where was it?? She MUST have it. She simply MUST!!
Hours later, in tears, with only 1 hour to go, she collapsed beside her bed and began sobbing.
Wait.
Wait..
WAIT….
What was THAT???
She saw it!
There it was!
Gleaming out from under her bed, all the way on the other side, half hidden,, there it was…
Tink dug everything from out, under her bed and dug, dug, and crawled until she had it.
She carefully, oh so carefully, slid out from under her bed, and carefully standing up, fluttered off to her studio. Her biggest and BEST egg was now complete.
She painted ever so carefully for over an hour, and then sat back in utter amazement. Her golden, purple, sparkly egg was finished. AND none too soon. For it was now 12:30am, Easter morning.
She scooped up ALL her eggs, lovingly placing them into 6 different beautifully crafted Easter baskets, pulled her wagon to the door, and loaded them all up. She saved her best egg for last. This one didn’t need a basket. It was beautiful all by itself.
Scurrying off, and across the park, she made her way to the bandstand. Time to display her artistic beauty. Each and every one.
ALL the fairies from all over town and from far and wide were there. They were all displaying their Easter Eggs. Tink set her baskets on a table, and ever so carefully and lovingly, carried her best egg up to the grass judging basket table. She set it down, next to the 7 others and stepped back.
Hers would win for sure.
Tired, ever so tired, Tink fluttered home, inside and to bed.
That morning, Easter morning, she heard a loud knock on her front door.
Wiping pixie dust from her eyes, she got up and went out to her front door.
As she opened it, she began to cry.
There on her lawn were hundreds and hundreds of Easter Eggs.
She turned around, and on her door was a 1st Place Ribbon.
She did it. She actually did it!
